I didn't watch the state of the union address by Trump. I heard he used a teleprompter so the grammar was good. But I wasn't too interested in watching it as he isn't my favorite person to listen to. It will be interesting to see what happens from here on in.

Earlier today I heard an announcement that Trump was planning to raise retirement age to 70 and reduce Social Security and Medicaid spending.....Of course he will bleed the most vulnerable and reward the wealthy with more.......widening the gap even more.....
I thought he was definitely struggling .....but it's always entertaining to see how he uses his reading mistakes as an opportunity to create an alternative reality rather than admit he stumbled. And what's with all that clapping for himself.....very odd...He said nothing really....repeated his banal lies, stock Americana and empty promises..

And his daft supporters believe that only the Liberals are divisive???

All he was really saying was "You will do as I say or I will label you divisive "

Trump manages to read words someone else wrote but behind the scenes he is chipping away at all the rules, laws, regulations, foreign policies, denouncing the press (other than Fox News) and government agencies that make the U.S. a democracy. Destroying everything that negatively affects Trump and his family, and making new laws that benefit them.. Just exactly like Hitler did, he's isolating the country and will take over and no-one will be able to reverse all his damage and stop him. All who don't stand up and oppose this con man are guilty too.

Good question. Do you think that people in this group should only reply to a friend's blog if they live in the same country? People all around the world read newspapers and what's on the internet and watch the news. We are affected by what Trump is doing (e.g. NAFTA, tariffs, immigration policies, the stock market, insulting dictators who have nuclear bombs, etc etc) To those of us interested in international current events, do you believe people outside the U.S. need someone's permission to reply to blogs about other countries?

Maisie, in all sincerity I find you and Liszt two of the most intelligent people in the blogs, and just can't understand how either of you can believe one word or support one action of Trump. Do you not see what harm he's doing? He is one dangerous con man.

"We have a blog written by ET who lives in America. ET doesn't like Trump but that is her privilege....to like or dislike whom ever she pleases.....it is none of our business...

Then we have Katie from the UK, bijou, Shartaun and sparkleflit....all from Canada. They do not like Trump either....my question is "What difference does it make to them who our President is and what he does or says." What they think about our President is like "water off a duck's back".

You Republicans keep insisting that America is the ruler and saviour of the world. You seem to think that without America, there would be no world! That we should all bow down to you in gratitude.
And yet you elect a man who wants nothing more than to sow division and hatred in that world...even to the threat of nuclear war! Do you really not understand that is a threat to the whole planet? You think that has nothing to do with anyone but you who voted for him?

America is a young country...what do you think the rest of the world did before you came along believing you are in charge of the planet and the rest of us can't survive without you?

The rest of the world (including most of your own people) is trying to work out how we can survive with you,

I thought this little titbit exemplifies Trump's attitude......The entire speech was written by others and just read off the teleprompter in a monotone...but Trump came through in this.....when he made a mistake in his reading, illustrating that he wasn't thinking about what he was saying and then came up with this ad lib instead of acknowledging his mistake....Typical Trumpism.

"Here tonight is one leader in the effort to defend our country, Homeland Security Investigation Special Agent, Celestino Martinez. He goes by “DJ” and “CJ”. He said, call me either one. So we’ll call you CJ.".........

Where are all the folks that were so down on President Obama for using a teleprompter? As I recall they made a big stink about it. Trump sounds like he is reading his speech for the first time. He sounds astonished at some of the information he's reading.
Sparkle, you're right about him reading the teleprompter wrong and instead of just correcting his boo boo he attempts to cover it up - often time not making any sense.

"but he is our President and we need to find the good instead of the bad".......That's exactly why it may be informative for Americans to hear the views and impressions non-Americans have of Trump....you know, a little perspective from those of us who aren't obliged to feel loyalty for the office.
