Years ago, when I working with the elderly, I noticed that they seemed to take the news of a death almost unemotionally. I talked to one lady who was around 100 years old about it.
She told me that as we get older, death becomes so common place that it no longer brings a deep emotional response. I thought to myself that I hoped I never got that way, but even at my "younger" age, I view it differently than I did when I was 40.
Enjoy your time with your sister. We have to take every opportunity to share time with our family and friends. None of us ever know when it is their or even our own time to leave this life.

Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

Oh Vec my heart goes out to you. You come from a very large family. I come from a family of eight. There are four boys and four girls. My oldest sister passed away this year in April. She has been the matriarch of the family as my parents both died in their early 60's. You always think they are going to be around forever. We didn't expect her to go this fast. But you don't really have control over these things. I hope your sister can get past it and move on with life.

Thanks Vec for your kind words. Yes it has been a long time. I am around and mostly reading blogs and the odd comment here and there. I wish you a Merry Christmas and big hugs back at you.
