The War on Thanksgiving

There was much ado at Starbucks because the Java Cups lack the festive decorations during the Holiday Season. Folks were telling the staff to mark the cups Merry Christmas to make the employees yell out "Merry Christmas!" thus averting the War on Christmas.

I worked at Wal-Mart for several years and everyone KNOWS that Black Friday is the REAL reason for the season. I would say Merry Christmas to most folks since that that is the faith most of them follow. Happy Hanukkah to someone wearing a Star of David and Happy Yule to those who wore a pentacle. What I really felt like saying frequently was "Bah Humbug!"

The REAL War is the War on Thanksgiving. Christmas Items start being stocked after Labor Day and the trucks really start coming in after Halloween. Customers buy it fast as it gets on the shelves.

Thanksgiving gets overlooked to the point that Black Friday have been moved up to Thursday on Thanksgiving. No Family Gatherings for Wal-Mart employees.

Wal-Mart employees DO get Christmas off. Personally, I keep that Holiday quiet. I mail my sons gift cards and head to the Chinese Restaurant.

Unfortunately, Black Friday is huge because people turn out in the thousands.

If folks would just stay home, that day would not overwhelm Thanksgiving Day.

It wouldn't be so bad if Black Friday was actually held on the Friday after Thanksgiving but when Retails move the event on the holiday, it dishonors the holiday.
