WALK AWAY Movement * Diversity & a New perspective

There comes a point when enough is enough. The recent circus in Washington DC was the breaking point for me. I WAS a long time generational Democrat and I suspect that some of my ancestors will be tossing lightning bolts from the heavens. A few of them might actually understand.

Thursday, I went to the courthouse and changed my political party from Democrat to Republican. It has crossed my mind for over a year so this week after a lot of soul searching, I made the move and WALKED AWAY.

I was told at the courthouse that it has been happening all week. I was the 9th person that day to change political party to Republican . There were others who changed to Independent.

I certainly don't fit the Republican Stereotype. I am not anti-female. West Virginia has a woman GOP Senator. A GOP woman is also running for a congressional house seat. I am pro-choice but so were at least two GOP First Ladies. I don't hate immigrants but I don't think it's unreasonable to expect them to come in legally. I hope gays keep getting married and join the military. I have nothing against transgenders folks. I am not sure the military is the right place to make the transition. I had a good friend who was a transgendered woman from my exotic dancing days. I can guarantee she would have been out of place trying to use a men's restaurant. I support Colin Kaepernick's right to kneel. I also support blue lives. The families of police have as much right to expect their cop to come home safely as does the families of law abiding black citizens.

If anyone asks me who convinced me to walk away from the democrats - one answer is Diane Feinstein. The values displayed by her and some of her cronies are despicable. I have also observed a few lefties act like jackass fools, including a few on this site.

The new people coming into the GOP might be exactly what they need. Diversity and a new perspective

I am sure that my Democrat ancestors were upset when the Republicans freed their slaves.

I'd have more respect for you if you'd become 'Independent' at least that would show that you have some gray matter left!

I used to enjoy radio talk show host Jerry Doyle (RIP) out of Las Vegas. He was also an actor on 'Babylon 5' (I never watched it). An accomplished pilot, and made an run at politics. He used to like to say the Republican party is "To White, To Right, and To uptight". I have to think there is hope with a party that can laugh at itself and be critical of itself. I hope you don't regret the party change, and don't try to 'change' it

I believe there are many who are walking away because of those like Feinstein...... just as Clinton's "basket of deplorables" caused many to leave a couple of years ago.
I am so disappointed that some people determine whether they respect someone or not, because of their political affiliation or views.
And darlin', you don't fit ANY stereotype, you are your own woman and make your own decisions and you walk the walk.
As I have told you, many times over the years, "You go, girl!"

Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

I frequently go to Washington D.C. to talk to the Senators and Representatives on both sides of the aisle . I have to work with both of them. I have more credibility when I am one party or the other. All the local/state and national GOP candidates and know who I am and will listen to me. Independents come off as flakes. You are not in a position from your armchair to judge that status of my gray matter. The democrats no longer represent my values so it's time to switch. What do you accomplish other than making an azzzz out of yourself?

What a sad state of affairs, that your country is so divided in these two camps.........there are alternatives though, but not if you buy into the fallacy that your personal agency is dependent on the narrow parameters dictated by the majority parties.....why do you seek their approval? You say the Democrats no longer represent your values.......do the Republicans suddenly represent your values? What values are you willing to compromise in order to not "come off as a flake"........There are other political groups that don't fit the agendas of the Dems and Reps.......people whose values might be a better fit if only you weren't so dependent on the approval of those who appear to hold power.Integrity has it's own power.

I prefer to deal with the issues versus the political party. I started conversing with the WV GOP Candidates when I was working at the fair in August. I now know most of them on a first name basis. I am an activist and I can discuss the issues with them and work with them. They are most likely the ones who are going to win the election. There is an old saying "Stick with the winners." There may be more diversity in the GOP than you think, especially with so many walking away from the Democrats.

Soooo.............. What do you accomplish other than making an azzzz out of yourself?

I won't be sending Trump love letters but I don't think he's the boogie man either.

It seems like all you can do is nitpick other people while you do nothing. What do you accomplish other than making an azzzzzzzzzzz out of yourself.

If you prefer to deal with the issues versus the political party, why change parties?........Unlike you, I don't need others to define me and I definitely don't need to justify my accomplishments to you or anyone else......

Thank you Maisie!!!! You explained it well but I am not sure these non-citizen wanna be Demo Trump bashers are going to get it regardless. Elections are in a few weeks and I can see the direction that West Virginia is heading. I was a generational democrat but they have been heading in a direction that is not suitable for where I am at politically so I made the jump to the other side. My energy as an activist and lobbyist is better utilized working with the winning side versus ranting with the losers.

I just can't understand how you equated all you say you stand for..

With an assumption.. of Democrat evils.....

That you can say innocent until proven guilty......and then assume the guilt of Democrats..

I am not disputing your evidence....but it is shaky at best... just like the evidence against Kavanaugh.
so how can you equate...what you say you know....to what you obviously don't know..
How can you equate evidence.. As you so clearly know is presented for an agenda.. and then deny clear evidence that has no apparent agenda..It's just the facts.

Kavanaugh's hearing was about sexual assault.....the idea that sexual assault was brought as an agenda and was not supported by the evidence....Does not "carte blanche" Kavanaugh from the FACT he lied.. That's not my opinion.. it's a FACT...

The same goes for Trump.....Trump LIES.. it's a fact... the reason and agenda that he uses for his Lies..... or the reason and agenda that democrats use it, to smear him for his Lies. ...doesn't change the FACT he LIES.
