Throw Back Thursday - Monticello During my SSF Era, I blogged about my "stupid" relationships where I relocated and got stuck in BumFiretrUCK, Texas and BumFirtrUCK, Nevada - courtesy of the dufus truckdriver. Ugh! What a total disaster! My relationship with Gemini-Rising was really bad. He brings in a blonde alcoholic bimbo and introduces her as my "replacement." She died of cirrhosis of the liver a few years later. She got an enabler for a while. I was stuck in Charlottesville, Virginia for a few years. At least this, I was stranded someplace that I didn't mind being. It was fun working at Sam's Club and I loved the historical aspects of Charlottesville. I spent time hiking the trails around Monticello which was a trip in itself. Nevertheless, I am glad to be back in West Virginia and not in a stupid relationship |

The Shadow Picture is the Slave Graveyard at Monticello. Sally Hemmings was a slave with whom Thomas Jefferson fathered several children. She was the half sister of his wife Martha Jefferson. Thomas Jefferson freed her children after his death but was unable to free Sally. She would have been required to leave Virginia by law. Her sons had enough of a mix to be declared white. They purchased some property and Sally lived with them. That property is now the parking lot of the Hampton Inn where Sally is buried.

So sorry to hear about the unhappy time you spent in Texas and Nevada, but it's great that you enjoyed Charlottesville. It must have been a lot of fun checking out the historical aspects there!

The shadow picture could hint of other shadows of the past that lay there or have walked there. I've always envied your ability to hike your trails and do that geocaching.... it sounded like something enjoyable for sure. Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

You put the past behind you and got on with your life, good for you. Charlottesville sounds like a really interesting city to visit.

Yes, sorry to hear things didn't go well relationship-wise but glad you could look past it to focus on worthwhile distractions during the remainder of your stay in Charlottesville.
