Miyagi In the aftermath of the earthquake and subsequent tsunami that hit the Miyagi Prefecture in Japan, the Japanese people remain calm and dignified, queuing up for food, petrol, etc. and looking after each other. This catastrophe occurred just before spring when the cherry blossoms bloom and Japan would be at its most scenic. a crane perches amongst the cherry blossoms Miyagi To the Japanese, the short-lived cherry blossom is a symbol of the fleeting nature of life and the crane, which migrates to Japan in the fall to spend the winter, a symbol of peace and harmony. Japan is also known as the Land of the Rising Sun and the stoic Japanese firmly believes that, like the sun, Miyagi will rise again. through flurries of snow rays wake the cherry blossoms a new sun rises Cherry Blossoms and Sunrise over Japan by Lee Swee Wei Lee Live today as if it is your last For tomorrow will soon be in the past |

Hi Lee: I can't even imagine the suffering and devastation in Japan right now and what will happen to all those people in the future with all this radiation in the air, water, and soil? The governments in North America are really looking into the safety of our nuclear plants now. One big reactor is sitting right on top of a dangerous fault line and it's only equipped to withstand a 6.0 earth quake. Very scary.

Hi lothringia, AneMac, bijou, Thank you for the comments. I feel for them too and yes, how I wish that we can exhibit such grace, dignity and care if we were in their shoes. Note: I would also like to state here that it looks like the first comment is missing due to a glitch and that I did not delete the comment nor do I know who made the comment. Anyway, please comment again. Lee Live today as if it is your last For tomorrow will soon be in the past

Hi grouch, We, over here in Malaysia and other countries like China and Thailand, have more reason to hate them for the atrocities inflicted upon us but, although there are some who cheer, most of us are sympathetic. This is partly because we are impressed by the way they reacted to the disaster and partly because of the way they are always one of the first to help when other countries are in trouble, and their generosity during these times. It is as if they are trying to atone. As for the world, I choose to look at the positives. It is not denial because I do know the negatives but I realize long ago that there is nothing much I can do except to highlight the positives. Tearing my hair out does not work and perhaps, that is why I still have a full head of hair. I admire your fervour though. Lee Live today as if it is your last For tomorrow will soon be in the past
