Rain Tree Arcade

A short stretch of the road that encircles our Lake Gardens has been referred to as the Rain Tree Arcade because the tall Rain trees planted along one side of the road arches over the road to the lake on the other side with the tips of their outer branches hovering just above the water of the lake as if thirsty for a drink, and on a rainy day, one can actually see the trees take a sip from the lake.

Beautiful shots of the Taiping Lake Gardens Lee, it seems so long since I walked around that beautiful place. When I think about it, it WAS a long time ago in the early 1950's.

Lee, I was thinking about how we used to go to the Lake Gardens when I was in Taiping. There was a rooftop restaurant in there, I wonder, is it still there? I once had one too many beers in there and fell down the steps.

Hi Hawk,

Not much has changed since then but the trees must be smaller then.

Hi Poet,

If it's a nice old tired tree then why is it admiring its own reflection?

Hi Ema,

Thank you. I like the tranquility of your lake too except when it snows.

Hi Alfie,

I think you are referring to the Taiping Rest House. I had been there too but it's run-down now.

Hi Roxy,

I have seen this tree in Hawaii where it is known as the Monkey Pod tree. So I think it can survive in your area. Thank you.

Hi Rose,

Thank you. Somehow, the trees are attracted by water. The tree tops on the other side do spread as much.
