Baobab trees Inside the Flower Dome at the Gardens by the Bay are these Baobab trees which are also known as Bottle trees. They occur in arid areas and store water in the swollen trunks to endure the harsh drought conditions. They also shed their leaves during the dry season to reduce water loss. Great, I had forgotten about these trees and how they protected themselves, Had read of them in stories I read as a child. Never in my imagnation could I realized I had actually pictured them as they are!
