Gingko trees

The recent photo show of fall colours got me digging into my albums and I retrieved this photo of a quiet street in Kyoto, Japan. I found these gingko trees striking.

Wonderful colors Lee.

Alfie...

It only takes a drop of ink to make a million people think. There are many stories.

Wonderful, I had not realized that there were the vibrant FAll colors in that area. Of ocurse it is on the same latitude as Seattle, and the New England states that we are familiar with, so it only makes sense. Thank you for expanding our knowledge in such a beautiful manner.

Hi Lee: What a beautiful pic and love those huge trees. I have seen pills in the health food store containing Gingko. I wonder what it is supposed to be good for?

Hi 1750,

Thank you. One tree seems to turn yellow faster than the other which is what caught my attention.

Hi beachgirl,

It must be nice to have a pot of golden leaves. Unfortunately, it cannot grow here.

Hi sw,

It was in Japan that I saw my very first gingko trees. I only realize that they were gingkos when I saw the bilobate leaves.

Hi beepbeep,

Thank you. You guys are lucky. I had to fly thousands of kilometres to watch the fall colours.

Hi Softwinds,

Wow! You have your own golden tree! The nuts of the gingko here are valued by the Chinese.

Hi bijou,

Thank you. To us, it is good for health. We make a broth of it with barley and bean curd (fu chuk) but I don't know what it is good for.
