Oh my, I hadn't thought of my Mom's Bird of Paradise plant in years! We had one year I was in deep trouble over that plant. I figured if we paid a gardner to mow the lawn, surely if I did it, I could get paid and then go the movies with my friends. Even in Los Angeles, during the 50's such a plant was rare and very expensive to buy. WEll I ran over the plant! It wasn't until the following year and the regrowth of the plant that I didn't cringe every time I walked past the stubby little remains.

My house is surrounded by these plants. I always took them fro granted becasue they had always been there and needed regular pruning as they tended to overtake things until my sister from MA was visiting and made a big deal about them. Said they cost about $12.00 per bloom at the florist in "cold country". Spiritwoman ^i^

Hi JAN, I took this photo in Gold Coast. The Malaysian varieties are smaller and not as colourful. Lee Live today as if it is your last For tomorrow will soon be in the past

Hi Lee: All those sharp angles and geometrical shapes on the backdrop and on the flower itself make that an amazing pic.

You are lucky that the plant is hardy and grows very fast. Lee Live today as if it is your last For tomorrow will soon be in the past
