BREAKFAST 1. The man is making "Roti canai" - an Indian flatbread taken with "dal" or different types of curry. 2. Fried koey teow and vermicell is a Chinese food. The noodles are fried with slices of pork, shrimps, fish ball and choy sam ( a green vegetable) . Fried onion is sprinkled on top and it is usually eaten with chilli paste. 3."Nasi lemak" or fragrant rice is a Malay snack. The rice is cooked with " santan" (coconut milk) which makes it fragrant. Then curry prawns/ anchovies/ fish is added. The red paste atop the tiny pieces of banana leaf is "sambal" - a Malay style chilli paste. Nowadays, the Nasi lemak has undergone many transformations and there are many new versions but the above is the original one. 4. To the Chinese, luck is very important - even while having breakfast. The big word inside the red picture hanging on the wall is the Chinese word for luck. Red, of course, is our lucky colour. Live today as if it is your last For tomorrow will soon be in the past

It all looks tasty if not TOO hot with spices. I like to taste the food, not set my mouth on fire, so when we eat Chinese, I pick the ones that are not designated with the "chili" that means hot. Sometimes, I get fooled though, because different cooks season a bit differently. Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.
