No Looking

I no longer look into your eyes
To gaze upon the better me
Gone are sparkles and loving light
My unwanted sight of reality

I no longer look into mirrors
To gaze with foolhardy perception
Gone are desire and possibility
Only truth found in reflection

I no longer look at the journey
and gaze upon my destiny
For as the road nears it end
It reveals what rests in me

***********

Goodness, its the path of us all. The first verse is very sad, even though we are all "elderly" we still think yonng and what we thought about when looking into each others eyes. Im relating to your last verse.

Thank you for reading me.

I woke up too early this morning, laid in bed, and the idea for this poem popped in my head. I was thinking how I no longer look in the mirror, the same way I use to (in more ways than one). All the other stuff just came.
Got up, wrote it here in 15 minutes. When I re read it, I could only wonder where this stuff comes from, and that sometimes can be more meaningful, the second time around.
Stuff like the words "reflection", and "rests in me"(trying to rhyme destiny), take on others meanings, though not considered when writing it still works any way you look at it.
