Los Indios

The Malecon is one of those places where all sorts of people show up for impromptu performances. It's a 2 mile pedestrian only road along the ocean. It's packed with restaurants and shops. Food vendors, individuals selling food items, crafts, art work, street performers pack the area. Locals and tourists alike come out to stroll, look eat and socialize.

Today we came across a group dressed in Aztec or Mayan style strolling about stopping to perform at various locations. There are Huichol (the local indigenous people) in native dress performing some of their dance and rituals and selling their bead and art work but in the years I have been visiting Puerto Vallarta this is the first time I have seen this group.

You say that in the years you have been visiting Puerto Vallarta, you have seen a group of Huichol in native dress performing some of their dance and rituals and selling their bead and art work for the first time ! Does it mean that you have never seen them before? Am I to understand that this local indigenous people are now almost extinct? I am really confused,Spirit !!

I'd love to take a stroll along that street and see some of the events taking place.

Patches is correct. It is Incas and Aztecs I hadn't seen before. The Huichols are still a presence here and in fact inspired much of my art work.

Rested on the beach today. Have blisters on my feet from walking all day yesterday. Went into town for one thing and ended up spending all day doing many of the things implanted to do one at a time.

Americans and even more Canadians. Tourists make up half of the population in the winter. There is also a large community of expats from both countries here full time. Beautiful place, great weather and a much lower cost of living and far more peaceful lifestyle. Many retire here for those reasons.

As you know nothing like a tropical beach to make anyone feel better. With the help of an epidural and extra Chuck was able to postpone surgery so did make it. Doing well here in a culture where people go out of their way to be courteous and helpful to the old and disabled. Forgot one of his meds but fortunately all you need to do here is walk into any pharmacy and get what you need.

I usually stay in town right off of the Malecon but we are staying at place like you mentioned this year. Got a great deal. We are about 8 kilometers south of town but the bus stops right in front of the hotel and goes to old town with all of the great restaurants and shops. I love just about everything about this place.

Lucky you! I've heard Puerto Vallarta is a beautiful place to spend a vacation.

It is amazing. I tried my best to relocate here a few years ago but unfortunately responsibilities made that unworkable. Maybe one day I will at least be able to winter here.
