Feeling Good this Morning

I must have been drinking out of open containers again. I woke up this morning feeling positive. To clarify for Lulu who often expresses difficulty understanding what I mean by this it is feeling of anticipation that something good will happen today, I will accomplish something, I will have some interesting encounters with people etc.

No I don't have anything special planned. I'll be hitting the road to town in a bit to hopefully finish up the trim in one of the rooms I am renovating. No big social events. I'll come back worn out and share a pizza I picked up on the way while watching something recorded on the DVR. It's not pay day. I didn't win the lottery (maybe becasue I didn't play). Prince charming is not about to ride in on the white . I'm not about to make a big sale from one of my recently neglected art projects. Absolutely nothing in sight other than a regular day.

What I will do is notice all of the blooming plants as I drive being mindful that I can still drive (a high performance sports car with a stick shift yet) through the canyon. Look at the unique and ever changing cloud patterns. Smile and say hi to the helpers at Home Depot and enjoy a smile back. Savor the color, texture and flavor my fresh protein shake I pick up for breakfast / lunch on my way to my house. Say hi to Oscar and Spike the bearded dragon. Have a conversation with Ginger the and marvel at how wonderful she is. Give mama cat some loving and feel amazement that at 15 she is not just alive but active and spunky. Check on the turtle and appreciate his bright colors etc. Enjoy the fact that even though my dependents are a major PIA they survived to live another day. Celebrate the fact that in spite of the aches and pains I can still get around and do things. I can climb the ladder, move the furniture around, tote cans of paint here and there. I can see, walk, breath. I'll leave the news reporting of violence and pain off. I can read the one sentence headlines of what happened on my mixed news feed and be aware of what is going on without wallowing in the pain, being grateful that communication is so swift I can be aware of what is happening around me.

So, as I said it is going to be a good day for me. If things disrupt my plans so what? There is still lots and lots to enjoy and appreciate. I give thanks to the Universe or what ever you call the powers that resulted in me being here now to participate. This is what a positive attitude is for me. Hope your day can look as amazing.

Sounds like you are looking forward to having one of those days on which you really enjoy what you are doing. I've been doing the same thing, but the place I spent my time was out in the yard enjoying the work and the sunshine. You can't beat doing whatever it is you enjoy. Can you?

Alfie...

It only takes a drop of ink to make a million people think. There are many stories.

Sounds like you have one of those "procedures" scheduled for tomorrow. Good thoughts your way. I know your kids are more than willing to help out so let them. I'm working on this one myself so know how difficult it is.

And having the time to it right. Back in the busy years I had to rush through things giving them what my grandmother called "a lick and a promise".

I did not like the the basic wall painting but am enjoying doing the trim and touch up. Seeing the results of the effort is very rewarding.

Like you I'd rather be working in the yard but I did that yesterday and more is on the schedule for Sat.

You have no idea how appropriate this is. I have this game I have been playing on my phone where I have to uncover all of the crackers or the dog gets upset.

I'm hacking up dust for you. I will be sanding the floors once the painting is done. One room is fine as it was done previously and varathaned Just need buff that oe up and add another coat. The other room is another story. Hasn't been finished in 30 years and only has some old sort of varnish remaining here and there. This will involve rending a large sander that makes lots of dust. Fortunately I stocked a supply of masks when I started the project.

I'll be looking for your finished product. I had an old child's rocking chair that was my mothers, mine then my daughters. One of the dogs along the way did some real damage to it. When my grandson was born my son in law restored it much as you are doing.

Dong my best to maintain. I am fortunate to rarely have a "down" day. I have "blah" days but few that I would call down days. When I do it's usually after something drastic had happened.

It's a long way no matter what color the horse unless you can find a flying pegasus,

You have learned what many others haven't. Treat each day like it's your last. Treasure the little things that are really important, when you put them all together. You have a great attitude and I loved reading your post.

Race on! Wouldn't it be fun if we could turn something like this into a large Bash?

Comes from having had a very disjointed childhood. The only thing that was certain about those early years was that things would change and I would be yanked out of my comfort zone. That is where the positive vs negative choices came in. I went with the positive - enjoy what I have when I have it.
