Mexican cartels operating in Arizona

There is a documentary on Netflix entitled Cartel.

It is mostly about a self defense group set up by a Mexican physician in one of the SW Mexican states to drive the Templar cartel thugs out of towns they had taken over.

But some of it is about US vigilantes patrolling the Mexico-Arizona border.

It seems that cartels are sending scouts onto high ground in AZ to watch for Border Patrol activity.

These scouts are supplied from Mexico by mules who work for the cartel.

The documentary shows the Americans trying to catch the scouts, but they are unsuccessful.

They do nab a group of resupply mules.

They call the Border Patrol who send a van to pick them up.

The BP guys seem to be on good terms with the vigilantes.

I am a bit surprised that US forces can't clean the cartel ops out of the border areas given the resources the US has. The US flies drones to kill people in the middle east. Seems to me some of that hardware could be used to neutralize cartel activity.

    Quoting  :

Local drug manufacturing is a much different problem than having cartel goons occupying US space as lookouts and mules.

The cartels are also in the people smuggling biz.
