My husband and I purchased one about a year ago. We have an LG 55 inch LED. We also purchased a Blue Ray player. We are loving the resolution of the new TV but with the Blue Ray and High Def its so different watching. Old school TV's don't compare.

When we purchased our we had a very sweet gal help us at Best-Buy. She was very knowledgeable and never tried to sell us anything we didn't need.

We also have surround sound so when watching a movie it's like being in a movie theater.

When I went shopping for one, I looked at several factors...including ROOM SIZE. While I was tempted to get something HUGE...it would have swallowed up my living room so I cut back to a simple 40". Another thing that most people aren't aware of...these things can be real energy hogs! Watch your power bill! And don't leave this on when no one is home or watching it...even for just a few minutes. The bigger they are...the more they'll tear your power bill a new one!

Just because you have silenced a man does not mean you have changed his mind.

When we purchased our flat screen we did take room size into account. We also purchased an LED because they are more energy efficient than the old school TV's. We do have Netflix but I'm about to drop it because we have not been watching lately.

Haven't seen these words/acronyms. Plasma, LCD (Liquid Crystal Display), LED (Light Emitting Diode). All three are known as Flat Screens. Each have an advantage/disadvantage. Heck even the last of the tube type were called flat screens. Some of the newest are super thin, Hard to tell from the describes which might be better in the long run. Quite a few can do both TV AND Computer at the same time. Those with PIP (Picture In Picture) allows that. Also can have regular old TV reception (still available in places) and the newer digital channels side be side. You can even have a camera (or three ) connected watching the drive way and such. With a flip of the remote tune those in.

Way too many options to consider compared to the older TVs.

Wilfreed: Do a websearch on the different types of TV's available. The LED TV's are very energy efficent. If you decide to purchase one go to a place where they will discuss the options with you so that you get what fits your needs.
