Foto Friday......Christmas Day 2010, a small miracle.

At the last minute..Rob was coming home. He would be home for Christmas. My memory doesn't always follow the seasons. This morning there was a bloom, the first one this year, on my hibiscus.....and memories come flooding back.

My oldest boy, his wife and three had arrived, and suddenly there was Christmas in the house, a tree, presents, good smells from the kitchen, but most of all....small 's laughter and excitement.

I've had a little Creche since my were small, its only plastic, but every Christmas I take the little ones and we take Mary and Joseph to the Inn, they walk the shepards from across the room to look on the manger, the wise men come from afar..and finally they put the baby Jesus in his bed of straw. After I tell them the story of the first Christmas, I hear them repeating it, they may had some new visitors from the toy box...it's always been a special time.

I had brought Rob home the day before and he was quietly enjoying the love and family around him.

Christmas morning I glanced over to the creche, the hibiscus hadn't bloomed in a long time, it was leggy and I was ready to cut it back. But there hanging over the stable..a beautiful bloom. I don't even remember seeing a bud.

That day was full of special moments..I received the precious gift of memories. It was to be Rob's last day home. Always in my heart...always in my memory..

What a wonderful memory! Nice that you involve the children in the manger scene.

Hi morgana,

That's a beautiful hibiscus. Rob must have liked it.

I love the tradition of dramatizing the Christmas story with your children.

Beautiful picture and narrative. Miracles do happen. Best to keep our eyes open and accept them as a gift from God. He seems to find ways to comfort us in times of need.

spirit, I can remember when my children were small..wanted to make sure they knew why there was Christmas. Strange isn't it..that I'm the one that keeps the story alive with my grandchildren...Hope one day my children will carry on...
