"In his hostile takeover of the Republican presidential primary, Donald Trump, novice politician, defied virtually every rule in the GOP handbook. But some question whether the billionaire developer, whose business savvy is his chief political asset, is making money by running for the White House – and breaking some big campaign finance rules along the way.

Running for President for Fun and Profit

Trump's latest Federal Election Commission financial report shows that, unlike other tycoons who've run for office, he's blurring the lines between his presidential campaign and his business ventures at an unprecedented level, according to campaign finance experts.

That includes paying more than $6 million from his campaign for businesses, assets and services bearing his name: holding rallies and strategy sessions at Trump Tower in Manhattan, traveling on his private jet, staying in his Palm Beach, Florida, resort, and buying Trump-branded water and wine at political events.

"I've never seen it before on this level," says Larry Noble, general counsel of the Campaign Legal Center, a good-government watchdog group. Trump using his own businesses and staff for his own presidential campaign, Noble says, "raises the appearance of benefiting from your company, and co-mingling funds" with a campaign for the nation's highest office."

He is scamming half the American public, so why not?
