Questionable objectivity

Today here in the blogs I had a mostly enjoyable day, with only one minor exception and even then I learned something valuable in the current political climate.

I don't accuse everyone who disagrees with me of having a vested interest in the candidates they advocate for, but I've come to believe there are a few who do.

I guess that's a sign that I should be careful whose blogs I contribute to, or who I can take seriously as someone who is honest and objective when they express their beliefs.

I know of one person who is honest and doesn't deny his involvement in organizations to advance one party's candidate. He doesn't trouble my senses for that reason.

But I also know of at least one other blogger, who when confronted and asked to attest to his objectivity, his affiliations with a political party, or lack thereof, responds by simply deleting the questioning comment.

Some of the folks interested in politics can get nasty towards those they disagree with. I've seen it come from both Repubs and Dems. That doesn't really trouble me much. And I'm capable of returning the same treatment if I feel so inclined.

But today, one person simply refused to answer or even allow the question about their objectivity to remain up in their blog. If that person is affiliated with some political campaign, that's not offensive to me, so long as I'm made aware of that fact. But to refuse to let the question be seen, or to make even a feeble attempt to answer, just demonstrates a dishonest person to me.

I'm sure people like that have something to hide.

Anyway, I guess it's a lesson to me to be wary of the motives of some bloggers.

On a final note, I want to say the VAST majority of those whom I disagree with politically do NOT cause me to question their motives, integrity, or objectivity. They are honest and truly believe in the views they express. I'm able to respect them even tho we disagree, because they show strength of character.

 Hi Gavin: I respect your opinion but just wanted to tell you something that I have noticed about certain members of this group. In case you haven't noticed yet, there are a group of right wing internet bullies here, and they start hurling insults at every blogger who has ever expressed any support for President Obama.

So if you feel that an Obama supporter here has been rude to you or appears to have judged you unfairly, well maybe after you get insulted 500 times by Repubs and then banned because you couldn't take it any more and fought back, then maybe you might understand how they feel. Just my opinion.

Ahhhh, that probably explains it. Thanks for pointing it out. Not saying they were correct to treat me as they did, but I better understand why they may have had a knee-jerk reaction to my comments.

I would hope they come to know me well enough to be aware that I don't attack people for holding different opinions from mine. I may disagree, but will always strive to do it respectfully.

Kudos on understanding and allowing for differences of opinion. Most here do but there are some..........

As I stated a few times I do have political opinions, affiliations, loyalties etc. but refrain from form participating here due to just what you point out - the lack of respect for anyone or anything.
