I agree Maisie. There are those who view holidays with the dread of what they feel are obligations, and there are those who embrace the busyness.

How sad it must be for some to feel bound by 'family traditions' or activities that they feel locked into.

If it's not FUN, don't do it!!

Christmas 'baking' comes under the 'tradition' heading and includes whether it's an angel or a star on the tree... if it's church on the Eve or in the morning.. or no church at all... etc. etc. There is some baking that you will never do at any other time of the year... so it's special and some of the recipes are centuries old and come to 'America' from a far flung country.

Oh.. and when I hear Bah Humbug I think of Dicken's 'A Christmas Carol'..lol

Our philosophy of holiday traditions is that they be Spontaneous, Creative and based on Present Reality.....ie........Meaning we only do what we can in the context of what we have........I discovered a lovely little Mennonite bakery and put in an order every year for my contribution to the baking. .....Getting together is the only part that really matters, everything else just seems to fall into place........I also always contribute a very good bottle of Irish whiskey or French brandy, an addition to the proceedings that waives any and all negligence in the baking department.....The only real expectation of me is to show up and be appreciative......And all those hugs......
