I had been reading some of the stuff about this and was appalled by it. Just ignore the problem child until he is no longer in your system, and the problem will go away? Well, this time it didn't work. 17 people are dead and scores more have been touched by the horrible actions of one young man who was passed through the system.
It also reminded me of the practice of passing kids through class after class because holding them back and tutoring them until they learn would be detrimental to their self image and the school's reputation. What a disservice to our young people!
That is one thing I loved about home schooling. A student can stay with the material until they master it. The program we used had 80% as passing. And there were no disciplinary problems!

We were pretty strict disciplinarians when our kids were little. The scenario you described would not have happened with ours, and it drives me nuts to observe it.
But sadly, some of our kids are not as strong with theirs..... perhaps the influence of their mates who were raised differently?
Example. We were eating in a pizza parlor with a daughter, her husband, 7 and 9 year old boys, and a baby great-grandchild. The husband had to leave us early so he wasn't as we were starting to get ready to leave. My daughter was busy with her grandchild and the 9 year old started acting up. He was walking around, and climbing into the other booths, even though my daughter kept telling him to come back to our table.
I finally had enough, and walked over to him, pulled him out from under a table. I very firmly took ahold of his face and put mine right into his and said, "You WILL get your butt over there and sit down like your mother told you, and you WILL sit there until she tells you to get up. Do you hear me? Do you understand me?" His eyes got wide, and he nodded.
I said, "I can't hear you!" He whispered, "Yes" and went and sat down and remained there until we were ready to leave.

As usual, Skariff, you looked at the situation through your dead-black, Marxist-obscured glasses and got it wrong.

If you look at REAL numbers, there is a direct correlation of increased government involvement in schools and the decline of our education system.

But, hey, if your "feelings" directly coincide with your agenda, you go with it.

Reality be damned.

ROFL.......... that just might have been my next tactic if the first one hadn't worked..... but I don't think he would have recognized the line and the implications. I think the real effectiveness of it was that GRAMMA had corrected him.

Yes yes, skariff. Much easier to project a dem habit of blame rather than take responsibility to do the research.

It's like you are talking to the walls..

They cannot see their own bias and propaganda. They have no respect, no empathy, and no compassion.

As they believe I'm saying .... ALL they say is a lie.... That is not true, but only a half truth. There is some truth to what they say...

The lie is in the bias and the propaganda...
Forgive them the lies... for they are not lying to US.. they are just lying to themselves.
And your truth can NEVER change that..

The system that produced Cruz, also produced his class mates who are courageous, articulate, informed, self-aware..........

It's not "MY" research. But let's just agree you're a lazy gruber and statistics cannot compete with your well-washed brain.

Not buying it ... it's just more NRA propaganda.

I saw cops on my high school campus maybe twice. Black eyes, bloody noses verbal assaults are almost always a he said she said situation with kids. Cops would just be in the way unless a real crime is committed. And not to mention a complete waste of valuable cop time. At my high school teachers and staff knew who the repeat offenders and problem kids were and they were easily expelled. They were sent across town to what was called Continuation School. At Continuation school education was second and baby sitting came first.

Trump's Betsy DeVos has had a year to fix this, if there really is anything in need of fixing. Why not blame her as well.

And Florida shooter is going to need a defense ... so how about *Obama let me get away with stuff for eight years..

You constantly harp on this conviction you have that the "Left" is always viewing everything from emotion and the Right is what? Logical and practical?.....

Lets start with the basics. Faith....Believing in the existence of a Higher Power based on nothing but emotion........Faith is a feeling......Feeling the presence of Jesus when there is no evidence except what they feel in their heart.......Look at them getting all worked up over "Happy Holidays" "Gay Wedding Cake"....wanting the right to discriminate based on "Deeply Held Beliefs".....nothing but emotion.....Drama Queen Republicans........Who rejects the logic and observable facts of Science because it goes against their emotional attachment to an idea?..........The Religious Right tend to be the more extreme and emotional in their worship ......they are the ones who see "signs" of Jesus........

Yet you repeatedly claim that the "Left" is ruled by emotion .........Hilarious......Oh, and since when did parents opt out of the "system"?

Back in the day, our ancestors were religious, because the Roman Catholic Church had strong political and military backing and forced people to worship their God....or, at least, to appear to. Modern Science developed in spite of the Church, not because of the Church, as Galileo would attest to......Anyways, that is moot in this discussion, one of your sorry attempts at deflection. At least the ancient Church acknowledged the emotional basis of Religion, as they consciously created forms of worship and church architecture and decoration to evoke intensity of emotion.

But I was talking about the present day and the charge you make repeatedly that "the Left" is ruled by emotion, as opposed to the more fact-based thinking of the Right. You must know how absurd an assumption that is, since you responded to my comment with nonsense.

And again you indulge in your spectacular redundancy. We are very familiar with your talking points by now, but your dedication to twisting real events into a form that doesn't cause you more cognitive dissonance than you can tolerate, is always revealing and thus, entertaining.

Red flags, misdemeanor convictions, a hundred rides in a cop car .. none of these stop anyone from legally buying guns. The reason Cruz was able to buy guns is because he has no felony conviction. Are you blaming Obama for that too?

But you do make a good argument for universal background checks. And also a good argument showing that not every "law abiding citizen" should have gun rights. Agreed.

Again you use the term "punishment" in regards to gun control......Are you calling corporations pulling away from supporting the NRA, "punishment"?

Correlation does not prove causality.

I suspect the decline of education also started around the same time as schools were desegregated.

But that doesn't prove that one cause the other.

You're not going to convince me that a 2013 Dept. of Education policy would stop parents from calling cops when their kids are assaulted at school. Good luck selling that bridge.

But somehow Cruz slipped through the cracks. So yes red flag laws make more sense to me than the Republican Party agenda which is ... pocket NRA cash and pretend to give a rat's ass "assault weapons".
