DRAGGING A $100 BILL THROUGH A TRAILER PARK

Most of you probably remember James Carville's casual dismissal of Bill Clinton's "bimbo eruptions," during his campaign for the presidency. Hillary Clinton, making her debut on the national stage, gave the first of many odious performances which continue to the present. She announced she wasn't the type to "stand by her man like Tammy Wynette" and then proceeded to stand by her man by doing everything she could to destroy the many victims of Bubba's lechery. The national media chuckled a bit and acknowledged that Bill was a bit of a "horndog" who lined the bed of his El Camino pickup with astro turf for impromptu assignations.

25 years later, the media have picked up Carville's challenge and are dragging a metaphorical $100 bill through metaphorical trailer parks, bedrooms, showers, closets, hotel rooms, executive offices, and shopping malls. The mighty are tumbling -- Weinstein, O'Reilly, Charlie Rose, etc. while the hounds are baying and nipping at the heels of Al Franken, Roy Moore, John Conyers, and others.

One notices two things immediately: 1) abuse of power for sexual purposes is more rampant than we thought, and that it knows no single party or political philosophy. 2) Conservatives can ntheless point out that the majority of the offenders are -- gasp -- liberals. If the "Lion of the "Senate" Ted Kennedy were alive he would be in hot water, not to mention JFK and LBJ.

I have been through several waves of emotion reacting to all this. The first reaction was 1) revulsion. It's pretty hard not to have contempt for powerful men trying to get women to watch them shower or m*st*rbate. And it's so puerile to boot -- not even a decent full seduction, just embarrassing chasing around the desk.

2) Phase 2 for me was relief. I checked back through my own life, and came up clean on this . I was no mogul or rock star but I did have some slight power over some 100's of female students, and never once did I suggest that Buffy or Paige could raise her dismal grade with some special "tutoring" in my office.

3) Phase 3 was recognition of partial guilt. Those in charge of our public values keep defining downward what is considered sexual abuse. Did you ever make a pass at a female which turned out to be unwanted? Of course you did. I did. Did you ever tell a risqué story with the goal of ascertaining a girl's sexual availability? Of course you did. I did. All of this can now be considered sexual abuse.

Phase 4) Lessening of guilt. The male of the species is impelled by genetic code to be successful in procreation, and this means we bear the burden of being the aggressor in the whole mating dance. I use the word burden carefully -- men have the curse of potential rejection with every advance. We find ourselves doing silly things to look good to the opposite sex. Male privilege often becomes a male curse.

Somehow we must strike a balance in our judgments of ourselves and others. In many cases, forgiveness is in order for mild offenses in our distant past -- forgiveness for others and for ourselves.

I have purposely left President Trump's name out of this discussion, although his eligibility to be mentioned is undeniable. I find him a complex person in this regard, and it will simply roil the waters to bring him into it at the moment.

There is virtually nothing complex about Donald Trump. Nonetheless, the immunity you've granted him reminds me of of the picture in my head of President Trump shooting someone on 5th Avenue....he gets a pass.

Liszt I read a succinct quote from editor of the National Review Online, Kathryn Jean Lopez. She said simply :

"Why is it that men would ever presume to take what is not theirs to take? What is it that women would be too afraid to speak up? Could it be that the expectations of the culture have forced both men and women into a desensitization against any kind of respect for the other? Could it be that we've been breathing an air that has us believing that the other exists for gratification rather than for awe and reverence?"

I agree with her last point. For too long, even Christian pastors thumped their Bibles and quoted Ephesians 5:22 "Wives, submit your selves to your husbands, for the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ is head of the Church.." there creating a superiority of men over women. However, these same pastors skip over verse 25-26 which is part of the same thought. "Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her to sanctify her, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word,…"

To love your wife enough to give your life for her, gives a mandate to treat women with honor, respect and even reverence. It is my belief that the church and parents live this principle in their daily lives, their kids will learn basic structures.

1. the son sees his dad cherish his mom, never raising a hand or his voice

2. The daughter is taught not to accept untoward behaviors from boys

3. They both see a dynamic where household duties are shared, but not equal. Mom submits to Dad out of a reciprocal love dynamic, and Dad goes out of his way to please Mom.

Beyond my previous post, these issues operate like pendulums. Side to side with the most speed at the very bottom. Momentum will carry it in the opposite direction until the relentless gravity finally stops it. I too have been unceremoniously rejected, but I think the lesson I learned which seems to be somewhat confusing to some males is no means no. The hubris which accompanies wealth, fame or notoriety apparently cannot be overcome by civility.

I know the topic here is concerned mainly with sex, but the concept of male superiority pervades all of society. Women earn less than males for doing the same job. Females comprise 51% of the population but nowhere near that in Congress or legislatures across the nation. Our nation is in her 228th year and we have yet to have a female president or vice president. Of the Fortune 500 companies, 32 have female CEOs, a new record set in 2017. The subjugation of women is part of our history.

Now, the macho men here will rise to voice their opposition, but when they do read the words carefully. I am of the opinion this phenomenon is so pervasive, like racism, it's insidious. The words and actions come so easily to us because it has become part of the very basis of our lives. This is another of life's lessons learned at the dinner table not the school desk.

The efforts to curtail sexual abuse or sexual discrimination, while admirable, probably cannot be either understood or dealt with without an understanding of the overall problem. You can fix potholes, but the road will never be truly fixed until re-paved.

Heaven forbid the waters be roiled......seeing as they are presently so calm.
It seems rather disingenuous to leave Trump out of this discussion. Trump winning the Presidency despite the compelling evidence of his disrespect for women, is seen as a catalyst for the present situation.......Women are not going to allow attitudes like Trump's to continue....they have had enough. Apparently there are more Women than Men graduating from University programs in the Us, but it is not reflected in Business and Government. The US is behind other developed countries in Women's Rights.......Things like Abortion, Health Services, quality Daycare, Maternity leave, etc..........And on top of all that, they are expected to put up with sexual predatory behaviour by men in the workplace........Maisie belittles women marching together and insists they are fools and lack for nothing......Well, here's a hint..........Men in positions of power calling them liars when they stand up for themselves..........Men need to re-evaluate their roles in this intimidation behaviour.....And when you're a star,
you can do whatever you want.....grab them by the pu$$y.........I don't even ask permission......Ha Ha....The waters are already roiling and avoiding the Trump in the room is only going to emphasize it.

How about marching to raise awareness on the opioid epidemic instead of demanding an abortion at 22 weeks?

Scurvy is actually a Vitamin C deficiency , which affects those without access to fresh fruits and vegetables.

Although the disease was known in ancient times , in the 13th century, the Crusaders frequently suffered from scurvy.
The British started to regularly issue lemon juice and put limes on sailing ships- hence the nickname- Limeys, so the legend goes.
I know that Trump likes his fast food, but I doubt he has a serious Vitamin C problem. A Big Mac has a bit of lettuce I think.

No Clinton was NOT held accountable. He was impeached for lying to Congress, not prosecuted for r**e.
If the DOJ thinks Trump did anything wrong, he would have to have done whatever while in office to be impeached. Otherwise , it would be up to the individual AG in the state where the actions occurred , charges filed, and the accusers testify.

The decision can be reversed by another Court if they wanted to. It is not codified law , but interpretation .

And as I said- the other items are not in the Constitution either.

Saudi Arabia is more or less still a Theocracy and Monarchy. Approved on 1 March 1992 - It says the Basic Law of Government, issued by royal decree, serves as the constitutional framework and is based on the Qur'an and the life and tradition of the Prophet Muhammad.
Hardly a comparison. But I will let you know how it goes should I ever move to Saudi Arabia.

Let me clarify- The Creator is in the Declaration of Independence. " endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed .... "
Deriving from Cicero thru John Locke, the Constitution is based on natural rights-
Natural rights are those that are not dependent on the laws or customs of any particular culture or government, and therefore universal and inalienable.

You might ask the women in the Middle East what Women's Rights are......There are different perceptions........and they have changed over time.Not so long ago, Women didn't have the Right to vote......And women like you belittled those Women that got together and marched and starved in order to get that vote.....You owe those Women a debt of gratitude.....if it wasn't for those Suffragettes, you wouldn't have been able to help put the Orange Clown and his Circus into the White House.......

Women need to be careful what they wish for... women who find themselves not having to say NO... will find themselves not having a Yes. Will find themselves dealing with the the NO's, like men do now.

As long as a No is a No... there's is very little else to speak of.

Beginning with a boy Prime Minister who lives ISIS and wants to make a home for them to a provincial premier who is going to place a carbon tax on natural gas used for heating after the first of the year that is more than astounding. A perfectly decent blog, about views on NEWS events was rapidly turned into a swamp by 4 women. Not an intelligent word on the subject of the blog.
Instead, they pick their usual MO- use any opportunity to personally attack someone whose politics, religion or attitude they don't like.
If Liszt, me, Dan , or Bob spent their blog time trashing Trump, or Bush, praising Obama, pandering to the women in here, and agreeing with their every word, not one single personal attack would occur.

You can't avoid it..... they are impenetrable.

In their political arena......there is no reasonable counterpoint, because they are not reasonable. To say what they say, lacks reason, except in the politcal arena with political motivation.

I, just like like you, never receive a reasonable response. Now, I can accept it. I understand it to be political, because I understand that's their motivation.
But when it's not political, when I say it's not political. I get the same, insult from their response. I am just numb to it, I don't take it personal. they aren't talking to me, they are talking to their political motivation.

How that transformation, can hurt woman more than help them. Where women who have the power and right to say "no". and men have a hard time saying "no", will reverse itself. and men will be transformed not to choose to say no....but be intimidated to say "no".
The chase and the catching, will take on new meaning. Simply the men will no longer chase to be caught. The power that women seek.....will be their power, no more.

It seems to me you are the one "pigeonholing" others. I wrote about the abuse of power for sexual purposes, and you respond with the talking points about how women earn less than men. I disagree with that, but that has reference to a blog I did not write.
