Comparing a the trial of a Black man in the American South to a privileged white man who was born on the conveyor-belt to power.......and a "trailer trash" woman to a doctor of Psychology with a large body of work that has received approval by many others in her field...........I can't see any similarities beyond their genders.

You are apparently not familiar with Christian preachers.......Analogy is their food group. They find a passage in the Bible and come up with a real-life contemporary situation that is analogous.......because, you know, the Bible was a long time ago.......That's why modern Christianity, has so little to do with what is actually written in the Bible......The thousands of generations of analogous "teachings".........I have come across some doozies....they contributed heavily to my discarding the religion in my teens.......Rubella offers one up every week.......every one of them in that format.

The "esoteric" aspects of the novel......I had to laugh at that......In all the writing you have done on this site I have NEVER seen even a smidgen of esoterica....LOL.... Every woman is not believed......every woman is listened to with an open mind and heart. Judge Kavenaugh was a belligerent jerk through the whole proceeding, whining and barking in turns, skirting perjury, rude and belligerent to the senators who questioned him.......to sit on the highest court in the land for a generation......a man who was born on the conveyor belt to power and feels he has a god given right........Meritocracy is a joke and Kavenaugh is the punchline.

Sorry...you'd lose your "wager". I've read it many times... and I saw the subtleties that you and liszt have obviously missed... You see, the whole point of "innocent until proven guilty" is that when the accusation is made, it must be taken as honest until it can be investigated and proved or disproved... whether it is believed or not . And that is true whatever the accusation is. That is what investigation and trial is for. As for Finch "choosing" not to believe her...that was his job in defending Tom Robinson. But, he did act on conscience. The book is classed a great literature... but we should never forget that it was written in a very controversial time in America. A time that you have said that never happened. This was not a trial, did you forget that? You chose to see Ms Ford as guilty as soon as the news of the accusation was known. Just as you have done with all of trump's accusers. There is no way you can possibly know the truth of any of it, but you think your pronouncements are infallible. In the end...there is a difference between reality and fiction. And you seem unable to tell the difference. I have a suggestion.... read "Confessions of A Justified Sinner" by James Hogg. Although, sadly, you probably won't understand it.

I watched the hearing. I watched as Kavanaugh cried non stop for nearly an hour about irreparable damage done to himself, his wife, his kids and his career by Fords fictitious accusations ... AND say no to what could help repair the damage to his reputation ... the FBI investigation. Then some Republicans came out saying it's all just 'theater and Ford's a prop. I guess everyone knew it was theater except Kavanaugh? Because in the interest of good theater Kavanaugh could have cried … HELL YES I WANT THE FBI INVESTIGATION!
