The government, local, state and federal has not learned what my father taught me and he only had a 7th grade education. He said, "if your income is less than your outgo, your upkeep will be your downfall." . Often those in public office seem to have no problems spending other people's money and creating debt. Many folks don't seem to understand this concept with their personal finances either..... sighhhh.

I am a strong supporter of democratic socialism. We need social safety nets to help the most vulnerable in our society. I'm a fiscal conservative in that I also believe that giving people a helping hand should be a temporary solution. No, those who can afford to help, fight tooth & nail not to. They are in no danger of running out of money.

Hi B: To be honest, this tax business is way over my head so I probably should give up trying to understand it while I'm still ahead. I just hope if that bill is signed into law that it all works out somehow. Can you imagine being an accountant and having to read through that massive tax bill and try to figure it all out before income tax time?

You don't have to understand the specifics of the bill to understand that it was rammed through. The Senate had 3 hours to read through over 400 pages, many having last-minute changes scrawled in the margins, some of which was indecipherable because the copying machine missed it......a bill the size of a NY phone book. Other bills of this magnitude had hundreds of hours of hearings, examinations by experts, more hearings, discussions etc........The Republicans here just pretend that "trickle-down" will work this time or that students aren't already carrying a huge load of debt...getting tangled in details while ignoring the big picture of why the Republicans are Ramming it through.

When the Trump Tax Reform goes into effect post your tax returns for that year along with tax returns from the previous year. They call it 'show me". I predict you're going to find out that Trump cares a lot more about himself than he cares about you.
