SOME PEOPLE

Some People

Isn’t it strange some people make
You feel so tired inside,
Your thoughts begin to shrivel up
Like leaves all brown and dried!

But when you’re with some other ones,
It’s stranger still to find
Your thoughts as thick as fireflies
All shiny in your mind!

I used to recite this poem to my children when they came with stories of feeling diminished and confused by how someone interacted with them, when they were too young to understand.....just to let them know that it was a universal experience.....Sometimes it was a teacher that caused their thoughts to shrivel.......
