I'm waiting for one of my 13 year old grandsons to ride his bike all the way across the island to bring me a chunk of Halibut and stay to do so some Art with me.......I'm not sure how we will manage outside, 2 meter apart, but we will see.......

I no sooner started scrolling down when I could smell those lilacs! How magnificent!!!! It looks like you have a treasure trove of lovely flowers this spring. My daffodils didn't last long, the cold weather got them, I picked my few tulips before they got nipped and the lilacs are very few and far between.
I do have some flower pots about ready to plant some annuals, but we are having cool, rainy weather so I've not gotten very far with that.

There is a beautiful little Native village on the South end of this island....It's right on the water.....There is a little 100 year old church with a bell-tower and arched stained-glass windows. The floor-ceiling wall behind the alter is a huge Native-style Yellow-Cedar carving of 2 salmon forming a circle. I have been to many services there, including talks by a Buddhist Monk and many weddings and funerals. The alter-cloth is a traditional Native blanket as well as a cross........I even turned the church into an art-gallery once and there was music, poetry and story readings and even a Native ceremony with drums and traditional dance........I taught pre-school there for years and we used the recreation hall for rainy day activities.......

Anyways......There is an avenue of century-old lilacs....there by the church.....I haven't been this Spring.....I forgot until now.......

When I was 12, my older sister got married this time of year. She had a Lilac wedding.....My younger sister and I wore lilac coloured dresses and carried baskets of lilac petals which strew in the isle. The church was decorated with lilacs. We had several lilacs in our yard, which were stripped of flowers for the occasion. She was afraid there wouldn't be enough, so she had put out the call and the mounds of Lilac kept coming. The reception venue had Lilacs everywhere, because she didn't want to seem ungrateful.....so she accepted them all.........By the end of the night I never wanted to see or smell another Lilac.........so cloyingly sweet and .....But I got over it.....Good thing they have a short season.......Now I love the scent again.....that and Honeysuckle.......on the evening breeze........

I'm very grateful for living where I do.....I walk every day, but right now my route has so much broom in full flower......My lungs are protesting.....

With your descriptive words, I could almost visualize that church and it's surroundings. It sounds lovely.
If you happen to be down that way with your camera, I would enjoy seeing pictures.

How beautiful it is. Some of my favourite colours too. It must be wonderful to be able to step out and enjoy such peace and tranquility .

I got a delivery from the garden centre yesterday evening. Can't wait to go out to start digging and planting. The garden is the only thing that's keeping me half sane at this worrying time.

I'm happy for you that you have your garden, I can't imagine how hard it is without your companion.....

Yes, gardening and fresh air does help......There's a Cascara tree just off my deck. It has tiny cream-coloured flowers only on the top of the branches, facing the sun. They can't be seen from the ground. This morning I went out there and heard this weird hum.....not a mechanical, unvarying hum, but one that changed pitch and almost had a rhythm......on the edge of being a tune.......It occurred to me that it was bees, but how many would it take to make that sound. I went in and went out again an hour later and the sun had shifted enough to allow me to see the bees.....a cloud of them hovering just above the branches.......

I have heard about the changes that are occurring in Nature due to Humanity pausing for this virus, but I have lived in this house for 6 Springs and there has never been this level of bee activity......HUMMMMMMMMMM.

Oh...beautiful garden you have! All flowers are pretty. Beside the smell, those pink ones surely must taste good, because bees are busy sucking.
Maybe someday you can post photos of the Native village and the church?
