I have this lovely wool fleece......fine, soft, with a 3-4 inch staple, clean and fairly free of burr...(pieces of plant material).......The light evening breeze has been perfect for teasing it into the white fluff you see in the basket.......I spun up a spool of it yesterday and knit a 12 inch sample square ....I then washed it in warm soapy water and dried it overnight.

It seems like it would be perfect for the garment I designed......Now comes the hours of spinning.......I can only do it so long before my back aches, but slow and steady does it........I'm taking lots of breaks.....I may have a new sweater by Christmas.....

That should keep you busy for a while. You must have a lot of patience and talent to create a garment out of wool.

People have often told me throughout my life that I have a lot of patience, but it doesn't seem that way to me.......I often lose patience with people......for instance, I have very little patience with small-talk and conspiracy theories drive me up the wall.......

Conspiracists drive me up the wall too. I don't understand how did we get to this point, where far right conspiracy theory forged in a dark corner of the internet becomes 100% truth for people.

WHERE ON EARTH DID YOU FIND THAT SPINNING WHEEL? I DIDN'T KNOW YOU COULD STILL BUY ONE OF THOSE.

What a feat and an accomplishment that will be in this day and age.
A throw back to simpler times.... perhaps a very calming task? I hope you share some pictures along the way, as well as the finished product.
As for patience, there are sometimes I do have it, and other times I don't.
On my job, I had total patience with my elderly residents, but total lack of patience with incompetent lazy employees who showed no compassion towards them. I was like the queen in Alice in Wonderland, "OFF WITH THEIR HEADS!" Those employees soon either went to another shift, or to another job, or I just got rid of them.
But to tackle a task like the one you are doing??? Ain't no way! In high school Home Ec. we had to make a garment. I got so tired of ripping out uneven seams that I finally just cut them off. My grade was not good at all because I couldn't wear it when it was done.

That is an Ashford spinning wheel. They are made in New Zealand, where the population of sheep exceeds that of Humans..........I imported a dozen of them in the 1980s and sold them to wool-workers here.......There are many more high-tech spinning wheels on the market now, but I prefer this basic NZ work-horse.......There is a large community of wool workers here in BC......

I was interested in hand-crafting from a very early age......I was crocheting at 5 and knit myself a scarf at 7.....In Norway, we learned to knit in school.....boys and girls......When I was 14 I was sewing clothes for my younger sisters .......When I was in my twenties, my husband and I went to a small-holdings agricultural school where some of the skills I learned in animal husbandry included assessing sheep breeds, shearing sheep and processing the fleece.......Later, I learned about dyes from Plants and dyed, spun and knitted and crocheted the yarn I spun.

In my early 20s, I had a small fashion business, making custom clothing.......I was living in Victoria at the time and would travel to Vancouver and the Lower Mainland buying fabrics and antique clothing at estate sales and thrift shops....Once I found an old moss-green velvet theater curtain which I turned into many Medieval hooded, floor-length capes.....I ordered buttons and accessories from artisans....jeweller and glass-blowers.....

One of my favourite haunts was the bargain-basement at Saba Silks in Vancouver........Once I found bolts of velour in jewel colours and bought it all. I had previously found a little peplum style women's suit-jacket from the 40s.....I took it apart and made a pattern....it had 11 pattern pieces and a dozen darts....I cut the pattern pieces in all the different colours and made each jacket a different colour combination......they were gorgeous..

I still make a lot of my own clothing and I seldom wear clothing that I haven't altered in some way........I can't leave it alone, it doesn't seem mine until I do something to it........Yesterday, I got out a black cowl-neck sweater I bought on sale in the Spring....I really liked it, except for one thing......There was a draw-string in the cowl......two shiny metal eyes and a cord hanging down.....it was superfluous.....ugly.....the only way I could get the eyes out was to cut around them with scissors....part of me was shaking her head at the part of me who was cutting holes in my brand new sweater, but I couldn't resist.....I then pulled out the cord and very neatly darned the holes with black embroidery thread........
